Meet Our Current Executives

All executive positions require the following:

  • Beyond specific role requirements, executives assist with club operations and anthology production, i.e. attending meetings and workshops/events as needed.
  • The Bolo Tie Collective is a collaborative and inclusive environment. You must be able to work with others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • While the time commitment and workload varies based on position, it is important that you are willing and able to spend time on club activities. However, we are flexible with scheduling and do our best to accommodate extenuating circumstances.

Below are the descriptions of each role, as taken from our constitution:

President – Responsible for overseeing the operations of the club, presiding at all meetings, writing a regular newsletter, and ensuring that the group follows procedures and meets its obligations. Provides support to all executives and mediates any disputes.  Direct reports: Vice President of Communications, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Publishing, Campus Engagement Coordinator, Events Coordinator, Secretary.

Secretary – Responsible for recording meeting minutes, distributing minutes to all group members, updating group contact information, maintaining a membership list, filing and organizing the club’s documents, and ensuring that new members receive welcome emails upon joining the club.

Vice President of Finance – Responsible for managing and overseeing the club’s finances, budgeting, and researching and applying for grants.  Provides support to direct reports: Treasurer, Sponsorship Coordinator.

Treasurer – Responsible for managing the club’s invoices and expenses, ensuring all are paid on time, and keeping up-to-date records of the club’s financial transactions.

Sponsorship Coordinator – Responsible for soliciting new sponsorships, maintaining relationships with sponsors, and ensuring that the club provides the value promised to the sponsors.

Vice President of Publishing – Responsible for overseeing the development and publication of The Bolo Tie Collective Anthology each year, including setting up the timeline, connecting with printers, designers, and artists, registering the ISBN. Provides support to direct reports: Lead Editor.

Lead Editor – Responsible for managing the submission and acquisition process, facilitating the acquisition meeting of the executive, coordinating and communicating with authors and editors.

Campus Engagement Coordinator – Responsible for connecting with students and liaising with faculty. Provides support to direct reports: Communications Department Engagement Manager, English Department Engagement Manager, Other Department Engagement Manager.

Communications Department Ambassador – Responsible for liaising with the Communications department and sharing our events and opportunities with students and faculty.

English Department Ambassador – Responsible for liaising with the English department and sharing our events and opportunities with students and faculty.

Student Engagement Coordinator – Responsible for liaising with other departments and sharing our events and opportunities with students and faculty.

Events Coordinator – Responsible for planning and scheduling all events, ensuring they are correctly and completely listed on Campus Labs, and soliciting event volunteers. Provides support to direct reports: Workshop Manager.

Workshop Manager – Responsible for organizing, planning, managing, and publicizing workshops, including soliciting presenters, writing workshop descriptions, and coordinating with other executives to promote the workshops.

Vice President of Communications – Responsible for managing the communication team’s workflow/resources, developing a communications strategy that aligns across communication channels, and publishing the monthly newsletter. Provides support to direct reports: Social Media Managers, Website Manager, Blog Editors, Audio/Visual Editors.

Marketing Manager – Responsible for the development, production, and distribution of club merchandise and posters. The role includes collaboration with our brand designers, publishing team, and treasurer as needed. The main goal of this role is to support promotional activities related to sales. 

Social Media Manager – Responsible for supporting and executing a social media content strategy that encourages engagement. Tasks include answering DMs/comments, analyzing social metrics, and creating content. The main goal of this role is to utilize Bolo’s social media channels to drive engagement.

Website Manager – Responsible for maintaining the club’s website and ensuring it is up-to-date and accurate.

Blog Editor – Responsible for creating a blog publishing schedule, soliciting writers, and editing articles and stories before posting.

Audio/Visual Editor – Responsible for creating a YouTube publishing schedule, soliciting content creators, facilitating collaborations, and editing the videos and podcasts before posting as needed.

Graphic Designer – Responsible for maintaining and developing brand assets, including event posters, presentation slides, handouts, social media templates, merchandise, and report layouts as needed. The main goal of this role is to develop our visual brand recognition across platforms.
