The Volume X Application Period Is Now Open!

We are looking to give student illustrators the opportunity to partner with talented authors and publish their hard work in Volume X of our annual Anthology! We are searching for cover artists who understand our signature, eclectic style and piece artists who can bring our authors’ words to life.

These positions require no prior professional experience as The Bolo Tie works to create opportunities for student creatives to build experience and portfolios. The only requirements being that you are a current MacEwan student (in any program). Portfolios do not have to be professional, but should be clean and organized.

Cover Artist:

Below are a few past covers of the Anthology for reference.

If you are submitting for cover artist, you will work with the Bolo President and the V. P. of Publishing to create a unique cover and title pages for volume X.

Piece Artist:

This is a position that will require you to work with multiple authors to create visuals based off of their work, as well as with a designer to format illustrations for print form. As an illustrator, you will be working with the authors to create artwork for their piece(s), They will have final approval of the work submitted for publishing. 

Keep in mind that the artwork within the anthology is for print so will be black and white line work and shading. this artwork can either take the form of a whole page or bordering text.

Submission:

An artist can either submit for cover artist (this will go to one person), or individual piece artist (an individual person could be taking on more than one piece depending on how many authors are interested in their work), or both.
