All executive positions require the following:
- Beyond specific role requirements, executives assist with club operations and anthology production, i.e. attending meetings and workshops/events as needed.
- The Bolo Tie Collective is a collaborative and inclusive environment. You must be able to work with others in a professional and courteous manner.
- While the time commitment and workload varies based on position, it is important that you are willing and able to spend time on club activities. However, we are flexible with scheduling and do our best to accommodate extenuating circumstances.
Below are the descriptions of each role, as taken from our constitution:
President — Responsible for overseeing the operations of the club, presiding at all meetings, writing a president’s letter for the monthly newsletter, overseeing the club’s finances, and ensuring that the group follows procedures and meets its obligations. Provides support to all executives and mediates any disputes.
Direct Reports: Vice President of Communications, Vice President of Publishing,
Events Coordinator.
Treasurer — Responsible for managing the club’s invoices and expenses, ensuring all are paid on time, and keeping up-to-date records of the club’s financial transactions.
Vice President of Publishing — Responsible for overseeing the development and publication of The Bolo Tie Collective Anthology each year, including setting up the timeline, connecting with printers, designers, and artists, registering the ISBN, and working with the president and treasurer to budget.
Provides support to direct reports: Lead Editor.
Lead Editor — Responsible for managing the submission and acquisition process, facilitating the acquisition meeting of the executives, and coordinating and communicating with authors and editors.
Vice President of Communications — Responsible for managing the communication team’s workflow/resources, developing a communications strategy that aligns across communication channels, and publishing the monthly newsletter.
Provides support to direct reports: Social Media Manager, Website Manager, Blog Editor, Audio/Visual Editor.
Graphic Designer — Responsible for creating all graphics, posters, social media graphics, etc. Works directly with the Social Media Manager.
Social Media Manager — Responsible for supporting and executing a social media content strategy that encourages engagement. Also responsible for keeping Bolo Members up to date on the latest club news and events via our social media channels. Tasks include answering DMs/comments, analyzing social metrics, and creating content.
Events Coordinator — Responsible for planning and scheduling all events, ensuring they are correctly and completely listed in Student Groups Connect, and soliciting volunteers for book table fundraisers, event volunteers, and Bolo Live hosts.
Campus Engagement Coordinator — Responsible for connecting with students and liaising with faculty – namely the English and Communications Departments, but also any other departments they deem necessary. Also responsible for engaging with members in our Discord server.
Website Manager — Responsible for maintaining the club’s website and ensuring it is up-todate and accurate.
Blog Editor — Responsible for creating a blog publishing schedule, soliciting writers, and editing the articles and stories before posting.
