Position Details:

Substantive Editor: A Substantive Editor is concerned with the development of a story. Despite how hard an author has worked on a story or how perfect they think it may be, improvements can always be made. The Substantive Editor’s job is to guide the author through the revision process. Depending on the story’s needs, Substantive Editors might choose to focus on any aspects of the story that will turn the story into the best version of itself. Substantive Editors must always remember to balance the goals and wishes of the author with the audience’s needs , and, most importantly, be kind.

The working period for this position is January through March. (Please note that there will be three substantive editing rounds for this anthology.)

Copy Editor: A Copy Editor reviews content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage, syntax, and format according to the parameters outlined in The Bolo Tie Collective Style Guide.

The working period for this position is March through April. The position will be complete before finals week. (Please note that there will only be one copyediting round for this anthology.)

Poetry Editor: A Poetry Editor is primarily concerned with the refinement of a poem. Depending on the poem’s needs, Poetry Editors might focus on any aspects of the poem to clarify the meaning and emotion that the poet is trying to impart through their poems. The Poetry Editor’s job is to guide the author through this revision process.

The working period for this position is January through March.
